The Royal Navy ordered 56 Sea King HAS Mk.1's on 27 June 1966, with the first production Royal Navy HAS Mk.1 flying on the 7th May 1969.G-ATYU was flown on 11th Oct 1966 before being given the military serial XV370 shortly after.It served all its life on tests and trials with Westland's at Yeovil before being transferred to the Empire Test Pilot's School at Boscombe Down for helicopter test pilots to train on.
