Corgi 1/48 RAF Se5A Nightfighter England 1918 Model Diecast Aircraft (AA37701)

The third SE5 produced became, in effect, the prototype SE5a with a 200hp Hispano Suiza power plant and shorter span wings. After troubles with the reduction gear of the Hispano Suiza together with a general shortage of these power plants, the direct drive Wolsley Viper became the standard SE5a power unit. The SE5a built a fine reputation for strength, performance and general flying quality, which together with the Sopwith Camel was the main reason for the Allies gaining and maintaining air superiority during 1918

Josef Jacobs (15th May 1894 ??? 29th July 1978) was the joint 4th German flying ace with 48 victories (equal with Lt. Werner Voss) during the First World War. Jacobs victory tally slowly rose, until at 24 victories (achieved on 19th July 1918), he was awarded the coveted Pour le M???rite. Jacobs remained with Jasta 7 until armistice. His final victory tally was 48 enemy aircraft and balloons.

Corgi 1/48 Fokker DVII JG1 Hermann Goering Sept 1918 (AA38901)
Postponed until 2010 Hermann G???ring is perhaps best known for his military and political roles during the Second World War but his military career began much earlier. In 1912 he joined the Prussian Army and served in the infantry until he became ill with rheumatoid arthritis. While recovering he was persuaded by a friend to transfer to the Air Force and in 1915 he joined FFA25 as an observer. He later trained as a pilot and scored his first victory on 16th November 1916. He went on to accumulate a total of 22 victories making him one of Germany's leading Aces of the War. In July of 1918 he assumed command of Manfred von Richthofen's JG1, nicknamed 'The Flying Circus' by its allied opponents. His BMW powered Fokker DVIIF was factory painted in his personal all-white scheme and had a special cut away on the port side of the cockpit. This was to allow G???ring easier access as his joints were still impeded by the rheumatoid arthritis he suffered from whilst in the army. Corgi 1/48 Fokker DVII Jasta 4 Ltn Ernst Udet June 1918 (AA38902)
After rejection by the German Army for being too small, Ernst Udet volunteered as a motorcycle dispatch rider before realising his dream of joining the German Air Service in 1915. Initially an observer, Udet became a pilot achieving 62 victories and commanding Jastas 4, 11 and 37. His awards included the ???Iron Cross??? and ???Blue Max???. This Fokker DVII is from Jasta 4 and wears one of Udet???s more colourful schemes. The inscription ???LO!??? on the fuselage is in honour of his girlfriend and the ???Du Doch Nicht!!??? on the tail roughly translates to ???Surely Not You!!??? a taunt to opponents. Ironically, Udet had to make his escape from this plane using one of the newly introduced ???Heinecke??? parachutes. After the war Udet became a stunt and race flyer. In 1934 he accepted a role within the recently formed Luftwaffe and was promoted to Generaloberst in 1940. He soon fell from favour being made a scapegoat for various Luftwaffe failures including defeat in the Battle of Britain and Udet felt pressured enough to commit suicide in November 1941.
