Corgi 1/32 Supermarine Type 300 Prototype Spitfire Eastleigh May 1936 (AA33908)

an unusual model, the Supermarine Prototype Spitfire as flown at Eastleigh May 1936, model wingspan 350mm

By early March of 1936 the prototype, K5054 had completed the ground trials and engine run-up tests and the necessary Aeronautical inspection Directorate's Certificate had been issued and so The Spitfire was ready for the first flight. There has been much debate on the exact date the aircraft flew although Spitfire historian Alfred Price uncovered a hand written report on the expenditure of the Spitfire programme dated 29th February 1936 amounting to £14,637 on which was hand writetn "flown 5th March 1936"
