Bravo Delta 1/40 Hawker Siddeley Buccaneer S1 XV156 Antics Special (ANTBD7)

Boasting an unusual history - dropping bombs to protect the environment and another limited edition aircraft in our Fleet Air Arm series - Buccaneer S1 of 800 Naval Air Squadron, Lossiemouth. It took part in two attacks on the Torrey Canyon on the 28th and 30th March 1967.

It will be a superb model, measuring 15 - 16" (approx 39cm) in length and will carry the livery worn in 1967.

Model photo to come. Picture with thanks to Wikipedia

XV156 was later attached to 809 Squadron on HMS Eagle and subsequently converted to an S2 version for the RAF.

The very large crude carrier Torrey Canyon ran onto the Seven Sisters reef off Lands End on the 18th March 1967. In order to burn off the oil and minimise environmental damage, Hunters, Buccaneers and Sea Vixens launched a series of attacks that eventually saw the vessel destroyed and made the evening news very entertaining at the time.
