| > Bravo Delta Desktop Display Models | Bravo Delta Models are exceptional museum quality and faithfully reproduced in kiln dried Mahogany. Each is carved, joined and sanded by hand. The deep, rich finish that distinguishes these models from others is created by the application of up to 35 coats of enamel. The artist then hand paints all of the details onto each model. The final product is a beautifully authentic model which is fully built and finished and packed in a strong shipping carton.
Every model has its own desk stand. All the propellers are made of wood and will rotate. Some of the jets have movable swing wings, also made of wood.
Models in stock are listed, many of those that aren't are available within 7 to 10 days. Special order items cost about £275.00 each and take at least 4 months, often 6, to arrive. Enquire to gm@antics.ltd.uk.
A brass finish nameplate is available for each model.
| Bravo Delta 1/48 Bristol Beaufighter (094)
Hand crafted from Mahogany this large display model of the Bristol Beaufighter displays the RAF 'night fighter' black paint scheme. Model is supplied with seperate propellers and display stand.
Developed during the 1930's from the Bristol Beaufort and Blenheim types the Beaufighter was a heavily armed fighter with long range for bomber escort and night fighting duty. Powered by two of the new Hercules engines, the two seat aircraft carried armament intended to inflict severe damage on its adversaries. Using the wing, tail, landing gear, systems and jigs of the Beaufort production could be achieved quickly and the first Beaufighter was flown after just six months in July 1939. Initially just exceeding 300 mph, speed quickly became less important than the radar for night fighters intercepting and engaging slow flying German bombers. After the battle of Britain the versatile Beaufighter was armed with torpedoes, rockets and other weapons for use in an attack role. In total 5,564 were built in England plus 364 in Australia, the last fighter and torpedo versions serving with Coastal Command, the Far East Air Force and the RAAF until 1960. | |
